What is the Strongest Plant in PvZ 1?

As the most iconic and addictively fun tower defense game of all time, Plants vs. Zombies 1 has earned a special place in our hearts. With its goofy, lovable characters, quirky gameplay, and endless challenge, it’s no wonder fans keep coming back for more. But, among all the quirky plants, we always wonder: what’s the strongest plant in PvZ 1?

The Verdict: Sunflower or Cattail?

While opinions may vary among players, the overall consensus is that Snow Pea and Winter Melon tie for the top spot for maximum damage output. Yet, for a more traditional plant with a broader area of effect, Snow Pea and Gloom-shroom hold their own. Considering sun damage, Solar Tomatoes and Jalapeno Bean prove to be force multipliers. But our primary concern is Survivability. Then we need to consider when sun damage matters the least (as the game advances and sunflowers become much weaker) and when special needs for certain levels create. That’s where:

Cattail, Sunflower are more important for our strong contender. They bring 10 sun each minute when there’s no rain! As long as I use 1-1 Cattail and save money to plant more by doing it at the middle lanes where they are worth double.

The Method: Top 5 Factors Considered

To objectively analyze the strongest plant, we considered the following parameters:

  1. Damage Output: The amount of health each plant can deal with per shot.
  2. Survivability: Each plant’s ability to withstand zombie attacks and perform over extended periods.
  3. Area of Effect: How many zombies at a time each plant affects, as well as damage over time.
  4. Cost and Sun Production: Sunflower’s ability to provide continuous sun and efficient spending on plants.
  5. Leveling System: Unlocking new upgrade tiers for each plant by increasing experience points.

To gauge these factors, below you’ll find a tiered table for each relevant plant in PvZ1. For damage output numbers, we used sources: 80 DPS by Sunflower, 95 by Winter Melon from levels, and 98.6 by Gloom Shroom.

Cattail and Sunflower Tied for Top, Closely Followed by Snow Pea: Table of Plants

Top

  • Cattail (95:15 ratio)
  • Sunflower (1 Sun per minute, when raining 0.95 DPS, without rain 8:3 ratio)

Above:

  • Snow Pea (95), best when raining
    Mid-Table:

  • Gloom-shroom
  • Winter Melon

The Conclusion: A well-rounded plant may require the perfect balance: some survivability, like 20 health, low-to-moderate base damage (5-1 damage, like Cactus 4.5); otherwise, 5 * base damage for the main Cattail and or use more of the ones.

So, in retrospect, considering both damage per sun and the number and importance of the plants is best to answer the questin, the strongest.

Remember, while numbers may vary, 50/50 Cactus + 1 extra of either (Melon) and both together, or 99 of Melon and maybe extra Sunflower, Gloom, and Snow at high levels, for you’ll always need more on Cactus, C. to create.
