Are Max Raid Dens 100% Catch Rate?
Whenever you defeat a Raid boss from a den you found, you have a 100% chance to catch the Raid boss with any ball you use. However, this rule does not apply to event dens. In event dens, whether you find them online or join an online group to find them, the base catch rates of the Raid bosses apply, just as they would in the wild.
What Are Event Dens?
In Pokémon Go, an "event den" is a temporary location where you can find and battle a special Raid boss. These locations are not part of the usual max raid locations and have special requirements for accessing them, such as completing specific field research tasks or achieving specific milestones in the game. When you find an event den, you’ll battle the Raid boss in that den, and the game will behave as it does in any other den you’ve visited.
Regular Max Raid Dens – 100% Catch Rate
Regular Max Raid Dens are designated areas in the game world where you can battle specific Raid bosses. When you defeat these Raid bosses in these den locations, your chances of catching them depend on your throwing skills, the ball you’re using, and the level and species of the Pokémon itself. But, with normal Max Raid Dens, the base catch rate for each Pokémon applies. According to this base catch rate, which is calculated differently for each Pokémon species and level, you’ll catch the Pokémon with a chance that depends on its wild catch rate and the factors mentioned earlier. However, with any balls you’re using and even the best throws (Great or Excellent catches), there’s always an element of chance.
| Here is a table illustrating base catch rates for each Raids: | Raids | Wild Catch Rate (5 Star) |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary Raids | 5% | |
| Shiny Legendary Raids | 5% | |
| 4- Star Raids | 3.5% | |
| 3- Star Raids | 2.5% | |
| 2-Star Raids | 2% | |
| 1- Star Raids | 1.5% |
Perma-Boosted – No Change in Catch Rates
The term permaboosted simply means any Pokémon with increased shiny chances (NOT their base catch rate!) that results in a chance like 1/64 instead of 1/43000.
In-Conclusion:
- Standard Max Raid Dens with event Pokémon have the game’s default catch rate apply, but with event raids, these catch rates aren’t influenced by special boosted rates or shiny changes!
- Raid bosses can indeed have special boosted catch rates (for example, level 5 raid boost chances are generally higher).
Max Raid Dens do come with increased chances for each catch; however, don’t let this illusion scare you from trying harder since catching all the max raids takes teamwork!
