Link’s Awakening introduces players to a mysterious cave system, where they start their journey. The absence of a sword and the constant urge to explore make these caves a perfect starting ground for our hero. Although we’re not equipped, the game provides us with a hint about the first cave. The first area you’ll encounter is Koholint Cemetery.

Stage 1: Koholint Cemetery

Upon entry, you’ll notice many tombs and a series of paths. Find the path that leads through the trees. Walking along this path will show you a clearing with, believe it or not, a raccoon dressed in a hat blocking your way. Douse the raccoon by sprinkling Magic Powder upon him. This mysterious character will move, thus opening the path forward for us.

Stage 2: The Forest clearing

As you proceed onward, you’ll enter another area, the Enchanted Forest. Be cautious, as navigating this area can be challenging (for now). Northwest of the clearing takes you to a path. Follow this path will guide you to a different location**.

There’s a chest just east of the clearing inside this area. Breaking the chest will reveal this important item: Moldorm’s Tail – the first key!! **
