Can a Sorcerer Change Prepared Spells?
The sorcerer’s repertoire is an essential component of their magic. With only a limited number of known spells at their disposal, selecting the right spells is crucial to the success of their adventures. Sorcerers who fail to adapt can become one-dimensional and even render themselves powerless in key situations.
The question plaguing the minds of sorcerers for a while now is: "Can I change my prepared spells?"
Let’s dive into this subject.
The Reality
While all full casting classes like Sorcerers are theoretically restricted in their capabilities to alter prepared spells, there lies an inherent problem. The moment the ability to change prepared spells at-will is gifted, Balance issues arise, opening a Pandora’s Box of limitless power and potential spell combination misuse**. This wouldn’t foster fair play but promote dominance of the game via broken build exploitation.
Conundrums
Two of the key hurdles to achieving prepared spell swaps, when it would seemingly cause significant imbalance difficulties.
Balance and limitations of all known spells make altering or substituting of specific casts as the time arises important but challenging aspect, if allowed.
One thing I learned is that I do prefer changing my cantrips while changing my spells if and only if the spell cast will significantly shift the outcome at level that matches the level which one gains 2 skill checks every month.
