The charger designed by Nintendo is an unique product. It provides electricity from the AC outlet with its charging cradle connected directly to the system when a 3DS (2DS, XL). If you want your New 3DS (New 2DS), New 3DS XL, 2DS XL, New XL DS, 2 DS, DS XL or other 3DS Family to charge its rechargeable battery, just look at the following guidelines (a) Insert the cradle plug into the ac adapter connector on the back of the cradles. Place it correctly on the charger cradle, for charging. Plug your electrical source into the adapter correctly for charging.

In comparison with other devices:

All DS chargers for those different models (DS lite, DSi XL or older models) also charged all the 3DS console models. Since charging DSi XL model does the same for older version and vice versa, because DSi XL works without AC adapter.
