Do Game Discs Degenerate?

There is no straightforward answer whether game discs deteriorate, but with a thorough inspection of various aspects, there is substantial evidence indicating potential degradation of these delicate audio-visual carriers.
There are three types of mediums: Optical (CD,DVD), Magneto-Mechanical (CD_ROM, floppy disks) and Thermal (video Cassettes).
CDs and DVDs: Are You at Risk of Degeneration?
- Light Exposure: Exposure to too much sunlight, even while stored away from direct vision, could contribute to cracking or chalking. Be cautious to prevent your eyes from coming too close – this applies also in libraries and similar situations, without a dedicated case (safes and shelves at home too)
When the layers get more rigid, even minor shock risks causing loss, with age. We see less surface damage or degradation than any other factors affecting performance while the original contents on other formats do degrade – (the physical disk in different conditions as opposed).
You should try your luck again in such scenarios where such an operation cannot have (it works if one in a sequence has).
