Do Nintendo eShop Cards Work on 3DS 2023?

Since August 29, 2022, Nintendo has permanently disabled the ability to add funds to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops using pre-paid digital gift cards (eShops) ([1] [2] [3]). This change affects Nintendo eShop gift cards (hereby referred to as NSGC) bought from both physical retail locations and through online channels like the My Nintendo Store, Amazon, or Best Buy.
