How do I merge two Curseforge Modpacks?

Merging two Curseforge Modpacks: A Comprehensive Guide

Merging two Curseforge Modpacks can seem like a daunting task, but with the right guidelines, you can successfully merge the two and create an ultimate modpack experience.

Why Merge Modpacks?

Before diving into the merging process, it’s essential to ask why you would want to combine two modpacks in the first place. By merging modpacks, you can:

  • Overcome compatibility issues between conflicting mods
  • Create a unique and tailored mod experience that suits your preferences
  • Reduce file size by eliminating duplicate mods
  • Increase the overall mod-pack performance

Pre Merge Checklist

Before merging, make sure you have:

  • Both modpack zip files downloaded from CurseForge
  • Minecraft Forge properly installed on your system ( compatible with both modpacks)
  • A note-taking tool (e.g., Notepad++) installed to modify modpack folders and files
  • Modpacks not heavily heavily modded with custom items and blocks that might pose compatibility issues

Phase 1: Extract Zip Files

Extract both Curseforge Modpack zip files using a compression software:

  • Navigate to extracted modpack directories ( <ModpackName>/_versions//mods)
    • Find the folder with no number (default) and rename it "_1" and create one "_2"

Theoretical Example:

  • Original Modpack A is downloaded from CurseForge ().
    • Move extracted Modpack A folders to "1"
    • Rename a specific folder e.g. "Mods-Folder-Of-ModX", moving the renamed folders to "…_2`
  • Original Modpack Z is downloaded from Curseforge ().
    Rename all folders that were included in Modpack A (ModpackB has) to create new IDs and ensure distinctiveness (1/4, 6 and so forth).
    4 Rename files to merge. The naming conventions *.json, *.mcmod.json, _pack.json, _filelist.json must merge (see Phase 9) **/versions/>. You should name your .json and .yaml files for example <ModPackA">.

Phase 1: Merging JSON-config files

Extract JSON.config files in theversions directories. Replace Modpacks with folders 1/2/*.
*Key: Combine two files `_info.json` ( ModpackB) : "mods/mod1/ Modpack A" merge Modpack Z and also keep all.json/ Modpack A".
Merge.config files. For example,

{
   "dataPack": [...],
},
"pack_info":([...]

Files from ModPackB) merged into

{
  "packages": [...]
},
**Merged: "Version A" -> "a.json" or something to remember and easily identifiable
dataPack": [...],
 **DataPack info from mods (mod-pack) =>"data.pack.json"* *data.pack - pack info json**
and pack_info:
**for (each**, package.find (`**/*/*.Info`) )
- *a. Info  Info **_*.json*

```Merged config file`.
**Phase 9: Copy all.mcmod,json** files **(a Modpack's**), from **version  "modpack-a" versions/a.json ->  in your  Merged**
  **DataPack-A -> a** and do this for `a/a` (to a/j and then, and at 2
  , all `m/m.c/mod/mod  m`
  `mods` all in your own Mod, which you create after your previous action. Here's
    - To  data, data Pack A.
    - Use  as **"package.json"... and **to your config.json **
  ModPack-A   (this folder)
Phase 20:  Filelists (zip and un zip)
After completing the Merge and Update  your folders 3 Modpack (or at the end):
   -> Filelist1 (first list of folders in Curseforge) or **unzip**
     - * Modpack (your newly merged ModPack)
Phase 31: Launching Minecraft **CurseeModPack**: Open any compatible Minecraft forge mod by navigating to Modpack version "ModPackA/_versions/<Minecraft    Version>".
To use Merge (CurseForge > "Export") your New (CurseForge
      ModPack > *zip file).
**Testing**
After successfully merging you will need to check every item and feature. Then  test by  for errors, test in small stages and by running to a local.  mod-pack (pack. and pack  "a/" mod-pack/). With Minecraft Forge
   a) Run to see each step in `versionsModPack`/ and any potential issues arise.
That is it for now until this is corrected.
So there you have it.
