How to Stop Synchro Summoning in Yu-Gi-Oh!
As a Yu-Gi-Oh! player, you’ve encountered Synchro Summoning, a powerful mechanic that can turn the tide of battle in an instant. But what if you find yourself on the receiving end of a Synchro Summon? How do you stop it from happening, or at least mitigate the damage? In this article, we’ll explore strategies and cards that can help you counter Synchro Summoning and come out on top.
Before We Begin
Before delving into the nitty-gritty of stopping Synchro Summoning, it’s essential to understand how it works. Simply put, Synchro Summoning involves sending Specific monsters from your Deck, or from your side of the field, to your Graveyard to summon higher-level monsters. This mechanics relies on the Level Requirements of the monsters being added to the Synchro Monster’s Level. These Level Requirements can be from both Tuner and non-Tuner monsters.
Banishing with Ghost Reaper
One way to limit your opponent’s Synchro Summoning capabilities is by using cards that banish specific monsters. [Ghost Reaper] is one such card that can strip an opponent of their Tuners, making it much more difficult for them to achieve the Level Requirements needed to summon a Synchro Monster. Use this card strategically to disrupt your opponent’s plans and prevent those pesky Synchro Monarchs from materializing!
Disrupting Timing
Another way to intercept Synchro Summoning is by disrupting the opponent’s timing. Cards that allow you to Special Summon during your opponent’s [Main Phase] (e.g., Magic Circle) can effectively jam your opponent’s Synchro Summon plans. Other cards like [Ultimate Offering], where you can send cards on your side of the board to the Graveyard during your opponent’s own Main Phase, can halt a Synchro Summon mid-process.
Cutting Off Synchro Material
Taming the Beasty, Dinomegas, [Zolga] and etc., are examples of level-dependent monsters that serve specific purposes in being part of the Synchro Summon process. Be wary of cards that special summon these level-dependent, monsters, which would normally, be in the user’s deck, like Monster Zones. You can create, a Synchro summoning- unfavoured environment, where any would-be, would you look at this monster of power, monsters in-hand.
Quick Effect
When your opponent tries to summon a Synchro Monster, use Quick effect Disruption cards to take it away from them instantly! Cards like Cyber Dragon, Vehicroid Radar Face and etc. help by negating an opp. Synchro Monsters to be summoned and force an opponent to, well, you know what needs to be done!
How about Stagger Tuner and **Quick effect Disruption cards?. What about the potential level-based monsters to cut our, Synchro and Dark Synchro off the board, we talked about earlier?. Now add that to your toolbox alongside those other options to turn Synchro Summon back in your favour! Do it!
Card Strategies and Combos
Using these strategies in conjunction can prove devastating for your opponents. Here are a couple of examples of combos where Synchro Summon was neutralized:
Option 1: Play-out the Ghost Reaper: to banish a Specific tuner monster from the main Deck. After the summon of the ghost Reaper on your side of the zone of the monster’s battlefield (the opponent’s control, the game field becomes "the battle", i.e., in-game territory where the monsters’ fields become the real arena.)
Option 2
If you find that certain combos are hard in their own way it would be easier, have fun with synkronized summon if **you find out later, that’s where level, the main stage battle comes in! If "Dark Synchro the final battle". What ever.
