How Do You Make Redstone Work Under a Block?

Torch ladders
The most fundamental way to make Redstone work under a block is by using torch ladders. These tiles are 1×2 tileable when extended upward and 2×2 alternating tileable when extended downward. In other words, when built vertically, the torch must be on an adjacent tile, whereas when built diagonally, it must share a face with the opposite tile. By carefully configuring your torch ladders, you can power devices at a depth beneath the Redstone source.
How to create a torch ladder:
- Determine the orientation you want the torch to take.
- Vertical orientation: Construct a single layer of consecutive torches with the "on" side facing in the same direction.
- Diagonal orientation: Alternate layers of torches with each "on" side facing a different way.
- Build additional layers by continuing the vertical or diagonal pattern.

- Building the mechanism:
a. Install a sticky piston facing a block.
b. Connect the circuit: Create a loop through the block the piston touches, linking the piston (or adjacent Redstone dusted block) to the other end.
