How Does Zacian Work?

Zacian is a powerful Pokémon in the popular franchise of the same name. In the latest games, players are introduced to this mystical warrior, with its svelte body and unique abilities. In this article, we will dive deep into the mechanics and characteristics of Zacian, exploring its moves, typing, and battles performance.

Zacian’s Basic Moves and Types

Zacian’s basic moves are what define its overall strategy. In its Hero of Many Battles form, Zacian learns the moves Night Slice, Play Rough, and Cut, allowing it to deal decent physical damage to opponents. These moves also have unique characteristics, such as the potential to cause status conditions and flinch. The other form, Crowned Sword, is similar in that it retains the moves mentioned above but also has its own distinct typing – dual Fairy/Steel, adding an additional layer of effectiveness against specific opponents.

  • Night Slice: Zacian swings its sword-like arms to deal 35 damage, which may cause faint when used in combination with an opponent that is also the target of another one-hit knockout attack.
  • Play Rough: This fast and furious move lets Zacian hit the target at a rate of three, dealing 25 damage each hit. Opponents with high Special Defense receive no bonus effect, while others take damage depending on their Special Attack values.
  • Cut: Zacian’s sharp claws slash the opponent, resulting in 20 damage per hit for three, dealing a maximum of 60 damage.

As shown in the table above, Zacian’s primary goals are dealing damage to enemies and setting up scenarios to gain the upper hand, such as creating potential causes for faints using the Night Slice move and, in rare cases, affecting opponents’ speed while on the defensive side during other battles, with their specific moves (Cut in one case and Play Rough overall).

Zacian’s Intrepid Sword

Zacian also possess an incredible ability: Intrepid Sword. As highlighted in bold text below, this attribute works in various ways across scenarios:

Intrepid Sword: Whenever Zacian changes its type to that of the first opponent this round, or whenever that round ends without any switchs, it stays a Fairy/Steel, or fairy for neutral types and Fairy/Gsteel for Poison types with more than half HP after attack (which becomes clear when switching back. But, no, any potential changes during a previous Round will stay. Not including the special moves as ‘Play Rough’, all else will return to an existing state; ‘Steel-Steel and Steel-Cool’ but also if two different are ‘one change’ which may indicate.

Intrepid Sword Details

As a whole this ability ensures Zacian takes on multiple forms across numerous situations.

1 0. The initial one type change during each change 1 or more; but not to ‘cool down’ at any later instance.

  1. Not as ‘neutral type of it’ will also come together with two ‘switch round’ types.

If ever there will be less switch rounds; but an average of these; at least half HP are changed, or only because of those.
