Is Saadia a Liar in Skyrim?
In Skyrim, Saadia is one of the many characters we meet during our journey as the Dragonborn. There’s a lot of hype around her, and if you’re playing the original Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or its remastered editions, you’ve probably encounterd her at some point in the game. To address the question, it seems that Saadia indeed lies to the Hero. Here’s where our investigation begins.
According to various sources, particularly GameFAQs and its contributors, Saadia supposedly tells the Hero that she will receive 500 Gold Coin compensation for betraying Elisif the Fair, not Kematu. However, during the related quest involving Elisif and Kematu, it becomes clear Kematu is the betrayed party, not Elisif. Elisif initially seeks to betray Kematu to the Alik’wazi, but upon closer inspection, it may have been Saadia instead.
The Betrayal
In the Waterfalls of the Swindler’s Den, lies Kematu accompanied by six Alik’R warriors. This contradicts Saadia’s intentions. If Saadia never had any intentions of handing Elisif over to Elisif, then why hide in the Waterfalls along with Kematu? Are there any ulterior motive involved? Saadia only cares about saving her head.
Why did I find Saadia’s ability to move, and shouldn’t I kill her? According to the Alik’R Warriors, by not killing Saadia upfront and instead telling them to their location, you secure yourself 500 Gold by way of compensation. At least, that’s true at the moment. Nonetheless, it seems that having killed Kematu, with Saadia’s reaction becoming pretty enraged, will always be an option provided it is possible.
With an eye to the possible scenario where Elisif truly aimed to hand over Nemui to the Alik’wazi, so much so that Elisif seeks to save her while Saadia is at hand. Elisif also seeks to save Jarl Elisif, by walking directly upstairs and stating an offer to Saadi at the same time they start the related quest through their own initiative. Thusly, the quest doesn’t end right away the player’s side with what occurs in this quest sequence
