What to Expect in MW2 Beta?
The MW2 beta is a valuable testing ground for players to familiarize themselves with the gameplay, mechanics, and settings of the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 game. After the successful release of Warzone and the popularity of the previous Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 games, expectations are high. In this article, we will guide you through the key features and settings of the MW2 beta.
Modes and Playtest
The Modern Warfare 2 beta will feature core modes such as Team Deathmatch and Domination, in addition to three new, more tactical modes: Knockout, Frenzy, and Hardpoint. To test these modes, Infinity Ward will be opening beta testing to players worldwide across various platforms, starting September 16th.
The beta test will give gamers a taste of what awaits them in the full MW2 release, offering unique rewards for those who test the game before the grand launch.
New Classes
Unlike Modern Warfare’s alpha, the MW2 beta will include all available Multiplayer classes: Assault, Agile, Defender, Medic, and Sentinel. Tactical Mastery, Mastery Camo, Battle Royale, and more will also be included for players to try.
Beta players can choose between standard and customized loadouts in the new beta settings screen.
Gunsmith Progression
Gunsmith Progression allows users to create custom gun sets, adjust stats, modify attachments, and earn tokens. Tokens are rewards collected during matches that unlock different gun perks.
Beta attendees will get to try some of these perks for guns, making their playing experiences more thrilling and unpredictable!
Competitive Multiplayer
Infinity Ward plans a competitive multi-player section focusing on Ranked Play and skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). Ranked Play and regular playlists will offer diverse rewards, RANK and Prestige System which will grant rewards to their players as they advance from Bronze to Platinum. Regular playlists include Search & Destroy, Search & Retrieve (formerly Search & Elimination), Hardpoint, as well as some variations within these game modes.
It’s exciting to imagine ranked-play matches in which opponents work together for victories while using their individual strengths. Rank and Prestige progress within the Multiplayer playlists has been designed so that skill progression mirrors individual skill, offering better-suited competition and new victories.
Other Details from the Beta
For both Xbox and PC users on Steam, it will possible to create their very personal profiles within the new in-game lobby and track data, scores, and your progress, using Battlestats. With a personalized multiplayer profile, the community aspects of gaming have gotten exciting!
Some interesting questions the beta is supposed to uncover include whether a team victory is essential or can win with 3+ enemy kills (which should enhance the tactical game aspects!); also, is CP (Cash Points) more valuable within ranked Play & Prestige.
Lastly! The question, Is Ranked Play better or different experience than Standard playlists and its rewards in a comparison?

All platforms: PS, XS, and PC users – including both Steam and Bluestacks emulations and other emulation services for Xbox and PlayStation.
