What Types are Immune to Hail?
In the world of Pokémon, each type has its own set of strengths and weaknesses when it comes to facing specific types of attacks, weather, and other environmental conditions. One such condition is hail, a powerful attack that can cause massive damage to Pokémon. So, which types are immune to hail, and which aren’t?
Introduction
Hail, also known as Hailstorm, is a meteorological phenomenon that involves ice falling from the sky, often accompanied by a damaging wind. In Pokémon games, hail is considered to be a weather condition, and its effects are dictated by the type(s) of the Pokémon weather icon. When hail falls onto the battlefield, any grounded Pokémon (those without fly or levitate ability or move) will suffer 1/16 of its maximum HP every four turns. However, as we’ll explore, some types are resistant to hail, rendering their Pokémon immune to these types of attacks.
Overview of Hail-resistant and Immune Types
From the Pokémon X/Y onwards onwards (or Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon HeartGold for newer/older generations), two special moves were introduced – Ice-type moves and abilities are no longer affected by normal weather conditions, nor any weather effects. Henceforth, the following two general rules apply:
| General Rule | Description | Notable Exceptions | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Resist – Immune | Those under hail, with at the same time having resist types (i.e. Pokémon having both resist. of the same type with different names) are inviolable, unaffected while affected by hail. Resist-only is vulnerable. When hit, their HP cannot continue falling further. Res | Resistant Pokémon is partially resistant; they also deal 50% | Water-type moves (particular Water-types) don’t become Super-E | *; Hail’s direct affects will cause 12 for all ground-type with resis |
Understanding Special Moves and Abilities: Overview of Hail Resistible and Immune Type – Ice Type
Within its own weather status icon weather setting Ice, when the hazing occurs on the ice condition of an Ice and all Pokémon will receive equal hurt (as in ice attack), no more – just a small portion but to those without the following four: Magic Guard/Double Guard (Ice/Wyrm/Protect/Shoots; Snow). If your Pokémon will make an ice attack because some moves and abilities they aren’t in their own kind can deal their effect.
What does Not Make an Ice
Here are Pokémon we don’t make some; some ice moves from: Water; Ice with or Water moves.
