Which Teams Lost FIFA 23? A Review of the Licenses
FIFA 23 has been a topic of immense enthusiasm among gamers and soccer fans alike. The anticipation had been building up since EA Sports and Konami first announced the release date and features of the latest game in the FIFA franchise. However, as always, not every team can have a place in the beloved game. In this article, we will focus on the teams that missed the cut for FIFA 23.
Italian SuperLega Clubs
Four top-tier clubs from the Italian SuperLega League were left out of FIFA 23: Rome, Atalanta, Lazio, and Napoli. Rome (Roma FC, as they are known in-game) has been plagued with financial struggles, causing an issue with EA’s requirements for inclusion. Meanwhile, Atalanta’s agreement with FIFA seems to be focused more on their reserve team than their first team. As a result, they also did not make it into the game.
Mexican Teams
Three leagues from Mexico, comprising many teams, have licensed rights with Konami for eFootball 2023. These teams missed out on the possibility to be part of the beloved FIFA 23 experience, as the rights deal for FIFA are separate.
