Who is the Villain in Cod Ghosts Campaign?
Main Antagonist of Call of Duty: Ghosts
In the 2013 first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Ghosts, the main villain of the campaign is Gabriel Rorke, played by Kevin Gage. Rorke is a former Ghost who works for the Federation, using his betrayal to hunt down his former comrades.
Formation of Rorke
Rorke was once a member of an elite special forces team called the "Ghosts." He participated in a mission during which the team was forced to make a tragic choice: abandon an injured crew member to save their own skins. Rorke could not forgive the situation and eventually becomes the person he is today. Later, when he is captured and brainwashed by the Federation using torture and hallucinogens, his emotional pain causes him to become vengeful. This sets in motion Rorke’s tragic journey that culminates with his quest to eliminate his former fellow Ghost teammates.
Motives of Rorke
Rorke’s major motive is to rid himself and the world of his comrades who forced him to abandon his colleague during a combat mission. He is bent on gaining revenge by not only tracking down and murdering the people whom he feels owe him reparations but also torturing anyone who stands between him and realizing his objectives. At his mindless core is an untainted hatred born out of bitter feelings towards an unjust end, fueled even further due to the traumatic techniques of psychological terrorism he experienced through brain-washing. This mind control forced him to be under Federation Control.
Criticizations and Reviews
Gabe (Gabriel T. Rorke) has generated an ambivalent response across gamers: a mix of intrigue, pitying, and fear-inducing wrath. This multifaceted emotion toward his character is perhaps one method by which Infinity Ward succeeded so effectively in portraying both Rorke (Gabe). A simple but strong reason that explains fans’ negative perspectives toward Riley and the ending result, i.e., Riley remaining with very minor injuries.
