Why Did Wesker Want Leon Dead?
Albert Wesker, one of the most notorious villains in the Resident Evil series, played a crucial role in manipulating events throughout the games. His actions and motivations drive the story forward, influencing the decisions of characters and shaping the direction of the plot. Among the several characters who found themselves tangled in his web of schemes, Leon S. Kennedy, a brave and heroic protagonist, became a personal target of Wesker. But why did Wesker want Leon dead?
In the game Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways
The explanation for Wesker’s actions lies in their shared encounter in 1996 during the events of the inaugural Resident Evil game. On that fateful day, Wesker was a brilliant and ruthless individual, hired by the sinister organization known as Umbrella. Seeking to claim the prize and further his own agenda, Wesker met with Alexia Ashford, with whom he forged an unwavering alliance.
A few years later, their paths crossed with Leon again, as Krauser, Wesker’s loyal soldier, attempted to eliminate him. His jealousy toward Leon, stemmed from their mutual past rivalry, pushed Wesker further down the dark path.
Personal motivations
Behind Wesker’s motives there lies envy of Leon’s fame due to the incident where Alexia had accidentally created from the data that belonged Leon. Moreover, the admiration and appreciation received from several people worldwide following Leon as a heroic figure were likely to drive him towards making a greater and more brutal plan against him. Throughout the Resident Evil series’ timeline, there has only been a brief occasion where both of them didn’t know the full history of the incident, giving Wesker even more frustration and reasons for making a vendetta.
For Wesker, his feelings of disdain, which transformed into hate for Leon came from believing himself superior from the time Leon arrived earlier at the lab to destroy the sinister projects before which Wesker took more sinister actions against innocent lives because of Umbrella.
Overall, it seems like Albert Wesker has no doubt been inspired to get into a quest to get a hold on the powers needed to fulfill his destiny rather than allowing other forces gain over him by becoming obsessed at the fear that others perceived him and other potential followers.
