Why Does My PS4 Not Recognize the USB Update File?
If you’re using a USB drive to transfer files to your PS4, you may encounter errors or issues with recognizing or reading the files. These problems can be frustrating and may cause delays or conflicts with your gaming experience.
Incorrect File System as the Main Cause
Generally, the most common error that leads to this situation is an incorrect file system. The PS4 only supports FAT32 or exFAT file systems, which means that it cannot read files saved using other file systems. Many USB drives come pre-set with other file systems by default, which may explain why your PS4 device is unable to recognize and read the files. There are some workarounds to solve this problem without reformatting the hard drive, but you also have the option to redo the drive in exFAT, which can facilitate the PS4 system data transfer process.
Resolution Steps:
• Right-click on the drive labeled "PS4" where you save your PS3 game save data in my computer.
• Ensure that you have "Create a folder" under context menu.
Steps without Reformatting
We can easily transfer PS2 games without reformatting the drive. However it’s always a good safety precaution to backup any needed files or data in storage before transferring.
• From the drive labeled "C" on your PS system, right-click "Users" > "Computer";
• In Computer explorer, you can make 2-3 folders such as PS2ISO Folder, PS2Riff Folder and PS2 ISOs folder. Place inside these folders your own backed-up files.
• We will not need it there, because it could cause any problem and lead to more errors on different PS3 and other formats.
Steps without Needing PS3 Backup/PS2 ISO folder inside PS3
- After the game save and a few games you played they are on the backup directory. We will take their names for our drive we will have the right choice for all games saved 1: PS4 Folder.
- The reason because of these steps we make there are several games.
- In that case if backup directory becomes empty (to save any other important to save 2 of saved games you played to put in it), I prefer you should make use any of backup directories if at least any one in computer.
