Why Does Nintendo Not Like Emulation?
Emulation is the process of replicating the functionality of one hardware platform on another. For example, running a Super Nintendo game on a personal computer. In the eyes of Nintendo, emulation is a major problem. Nintendo is known for being a bit strict when it comes to their intellectual property and ensuring that it is protected from piracy. In recent years, there have been numerous instances of Nintendo using cease and desist letters to shut down websites that provide ROMs (versions of their games) to download. The company argues that these sites are creating financial losses and damaging the gaming industry.
